\u201cIt\u2019s not very sexy to say we\u2019ll start change by studying.  Managers like to do something, let\u2019s start and do our \u2018programs of change\u2019.  \u2018Let\u2019s study\u2019 is also rude because it implies we don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on. Deming used to say managers knew everything except how to improve.  He said you need help from outside, but really you need to have a different way of seeing and studying.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

There were some interesting discussions in the taxi about people being worried about this being an \u2018evangelical event\u2019 and that many of the videos of \u2018success stories\u2019 on Systems Thinking Review had people speaking about \u2018how I was blind, but now I can see\u2019.  It\u2019s an interesting dilemma; if the results are counter-intuitive and people do go through a learning loop that feels like they can now \u2018see\u2019 how can you describe this to others without being evangelical?
